This post is not meant to make people afraid, but I am sharing what I am doing in response to reduced food testing and regulation to safeguard my personal health and the health of loved ones. Local #health departments often depend on #federal grants for disease control. These have been cut. State and local health departments are not well equipped to handle major disease outbreaks alone, typically they work with CDC departments that have now been mostly shut down. Measles is continuing to show up and spread, the United States on average is below the vaccine threshold for herd immunity for measles. Some areas are worse than others. Symptoms from measles infection can take between 14-21 days to show up, meaning we may have a few more weeks before the next positive cases show up but I fully expect there to be more. #GenX and #oldermillennials please pay attention to the years recommended for a measles booster & consider getting your titers checked and/or getting an MMR booster after discussing with your doctor.
