Every one has different love languages and no one is a mind reader. You have to communicate your needs. After you’ve communicated your needs, be patient, as it’s new behaviors people have to learn if what you’re wanting it’s not their primary love language. But it comes to a point. If you’ve communicated your needs over and over again, and you’re still getting nowhere. Know it’s not important enough to them to learn. Loving someone in your own love language is easy. I looked over at Alexander and told him this is my first birthday in 4 years that hasn’t been spent arguing and it’s insane to think back on. People think being in a healthy relationship is easier, when in reality there are so many things you have to unlearn. Behaviors you’ve adopted as defense mechanisms and trauma you have to work through. A spotlight on your own behaviors and growth you need to continue.

In hindsight, we can usually see where the power of God has comforted us, where he alleviated the pain, where he gave us freedom from negative, painful emotions. But while we're in those places, it's often hard to see the great Comforter at work. For one, while it is a natural tendency to want to push others away and isolate, know this is exactly what the enemy wants you to do. It's playing into his hand when we do this. Isolation can be good for a short period of time, but this is not the place where you will find healing. Look at the example of David in the book of Psalms. There were many times when he was in a place that seemed hopeless, but staying there was not an option. The comforting presence of God may not change your circumstances, but he will change your perspective, calm your emotions, and ease the pain you feel, if you will only invite him to do so and then allow him to do the work only he can do.” Heavenly Father, today, in the midst of a life that is often filled with pain and difficult circumstances, I welcome your presence. I’ve attended 20+ weddings the last few years and I love them and am so happy for my friends, but sometimes I would get sad and wonder, “Is that ever going to be me?” I played The Prophecy by TS on repeat. But it is His perfect timing. We found each other at the best time. Keep the faith. It will all work out 🤍

Meal prep that has helped me lose 25 pounds. Nothing crazy. Just consistency, discipline, and showing up even when I don’t want to, on or off duty. Don’t ask how long it takes, you’re not in the right mindset. Find an approach that you can sustain for the rest of your life. If that’s 3x a week at the gym and getting 7k steps a day, then do that. If that’s eating healthy 80% of the time then do that. Through trial and error I’ve found what works for me and what burns me out quickly. Find what healthy lifestyle works for you.
