You knoww I filmed our first nighttime routine using our new mobile feed shed! A mobile animal feed shed is going to be a GAME CHANGER!! 🤯🤩 We decided on this instead of a typical feed shed because even when we had a feed shed we had to constantly go back and forth loading feed from the shed into whatever side by side/golf cart we had to go drop the feed in the various barns/houses and if you have animals you know how heavy those feed bags and hay bales can be to lug around!💪😮‍💨 not to mention buckets and bowls tipping over spilling everywhere while your driving, and if the horses caught us driving to their barn! GAME OVER they would come chasing after us trying to rip the feed out of the back of the cart🤦🏻‍♀️ Having all of our feed organized on shelves, in an enclosed mobile feed truck has so many benefits! Plus! In the event we ever needed to evacuate the property for any reason all the food is already together and it’s one less thing we will have to worry about prepping (we are constantly thinking of ways to be better prepared before storms) Also! We could always use this as a regular enclosed “trailer” in case we need to pick up general supplies, we could always just take the feed out for the day and go pickup the items and not have to pay someone to haul something home for us! This retired FedEx truck popped up for sale and even though this was not in our budget right now especially with everything going on with Samson🐴we knew it was something the Sanctuary desperately needed We had a wonderful $2,500 donation from @Ziggy’s Refuge and Operation Angel, and while we would have tried to fundraise for the remaining amount we unfortunately didn’t have time as we didn’t want to miss out on this deal, so Kevin and I came out of pocket to scoop up this truck before it was gone Thank you so much Ziggy’s Refuge and Operation Angel for your amazing support and efforts to help us get our new feed storage truck! Tomorrow we’ll finish designing their entire Enrichment HOUSE! It will be just like this busy board, only A WHOLE. ENTIRE. HOUSE. OF ENRICHMENT! 🤯🤗 There are generally five main categories of animal enrichment: Sensory, Environmental, Forage/Feeding, Occupational, and Play & we will be creating a nice variety of ALL 5 of these categories when building our *Absolutely Mind Blowingly Amazing ANIMAL ENRICHMENT PLAYGROUND!* Since we want to build this as cheap as we possibly can we used items that we already had lying around to create this busy board. So the only thing we had to buy was the eye hooks, carabiners and the L brackets to make the big Wheel and PVC pipe spin! 🫶 This video went quick so i wrote a list of all the items we used for this busy board! 👇 •Salt block holders & bucket for treats •Mirror •RC Airplane Propellers (we have a lott of these lying around thanks to Kevin so we added a few😹) •Unused Paintbrushs •Teddy bear stuffy & Throw Pillow •Bells, Chains, Tamborine •Various size Wheels •Piece of PVC pipe •Various Old dog toys •Bottom of broom •Door stopper Hard items, soft items, squishy items, smelly items, tasty items, spinny items, bouncy items, noisy items, you name it, Whatever we could find lying around we added it! Building An Absolutely Mind Blowingly Amazing Animal Enrichment Playground Day1 ! Lucky us we have a ton of hurricane debris scraps and lots of creativity to build something incredible! 🧠 We love to be creative and reuse things we already have to make AMAZING things for the animals We LOVED our animals enrichment playground that we had at our old home and have been slowly trying to recreate another unique animal playground and well let’s just say Mother Nature hasn’t been on our side during the rebuilding process After not one but TWO back to back major hurricanes 🌀 our animal playground was left with just our two giant ships and a pile of scrap materials that came from varies places around the property. We are now on the mission to rebuild our animal enrichment playground BIGGER and BETTER than ever before!! Why did I want to cry when he came across a tree for the first time and I realized he’s never experienced a tree before😭🥺 We’re slowly going to continue letting Sonar spend time with the herd each day while we monitor their interactions until we feel they have fully accepted him into their herd and that Sonar has learned his way around the Cows’ pasture space safely on his own So far Sonar and the Herd are getting along, everyone is just doing their own thing around the pasture Sometimes integrating animals takes time and we have been patient and going at their pace! Replying to @sidneyraeellis He likes it when I scratch his eye socket itches for him🙊🥰😹 here’s an update on our gunsh0t rescue Samson!🐴 It’s been one month since his emergency Enucleation eye removal surgery and Samson is making a great recovery! He’s always in good spirits and is becoming more comfortable in his new forever home❤️ We are continuing to work with him everyday to help him overcome the trauma he went through and eventually, whenever he is ready, we will have him join in with the rest of the herd! Once he’s more comfortable with his new range of sight we will slowly have him join in with the herd at his own pace. We can’t wait to see him running up and down the grassy runway strip with the herd one day AND even more INCREDIBLE news!! We have officially PAID OFF Samson’s ENTIRE $2,016.77 enucleation surgery, vet bill!! All thanks to YOU! OUR AMAZING SANCTUARY FAMILY❤️ 😭🙏 We (Samson included of course!) are truly beyond grateful for the wonderful support he’s received to help him along his recovery journey.
