I was denied Disability Access Services (DAS pass) at Disney World due to having a physical disability, which no longer qualifies under the new program guidelines. I have day blindness which makes being outside in the sun painful and disorienting, and I used DAS in the past to plan my day around being able to stay indoors while also enjoying my favorite rides. I was given an “alternative accommodation” but it involves having to speak with cast members at each Individual ride. Some cast members are aware of this system and some aren’t so sure. This system puts all of the responsibility of accessibility on the disabled individual and the people they’re with, which is stressful! Not to mention that I was nervous about having to discuss this with people without being certain of what the outcome would be. I love love love Disney but accessibility shouldn’t have been taken away from people who truly needed it just become some people were abusing the system. Rolling back the DAS program was a huge step back for accessibility and inclusivity, and I hope we can all work to make it better. #Achromatopsia #Blindness #Disability #Disney #DisneyWorld #DAS #DASPass #Accessibility
