Our family made a room float for a photo! 😳🪼💙#CanonPartner For this photo, we wanted to capture a floating, underwater dream world in-camera, so we got to work! We decided to make jellyfish props that looked real on camera, so we did a bunch of research and brainstorming. We ended up doing a combination of hot glue, fiber optic lights, LED strips lights, and ribbon. We had one chance to capture this photo because we were leaving on a two week trip the next day. Eloise rested on the platform while Emma steered the bubbles, Oliver moved the jellyfish, Nick handled the leaf blower, and I captured it all with my @canonusa EOS R5 Mark II and RF24mm F1.4 L VCM Lens. This is such a powerful duo! This is so helpful when I am capturing behind the scenes as well as the final photo! I can’t believe how well Canon’s new RF L Series Hybrid lenses can capture handheld video. #ad Our family made a giant Toothless dragon for a photo! 👀😅 #UniversalPicsPartner To celebrate the upcoming live-action #HowToTrainYourDragon movie, we decided to recreate the iconic scene where Hiccup and Toothless meet for the first time. We grabbed two giant sheets of foam, drew a big Toothless outline, cut him out, and painted him all black. Then we got to work on making his glowing green eye, which took some trial and error 😅. Next our daughter, Emma, got right into character, while Nick and I set up the moment on our own little road at home, using fog and lighting to bring this iconic moment to life. We are beyond excited for this movie! The animated version has been one of our family’s favorites since Emma was little, and we can’t wait to see it come to life on the big screen! That one time family made a Millennium Falcon cockpit 😳✨ May the Fourth be with you…To build the cockpit, we grabbed lots of wood, foam, plastic sheets, paint, hundreds of LED lights, and 20 lbs of LEGO bricks then we got to work! For this photo, we wanted to create an underwater dream world, captured entirely in-camera, so we decided to create glowing jellyfish props that looked as real as possible. We ended up doing a combination of hot glue, fiber optic lights, LED strips lights, and ribbon to bring the jellyfish to life. We spent nearly a week making and remaking the jellies until we got it right 😅, then we spent a few more days completing the set. Once it was all ready to go, we only had one chance to capture it because we were leaving on a long trip the next day. We were down to the wire! Eloise rested on the platform while Emma handled the bubbles, Oliver moved the jellyfish, Nick used a leaf blower to move her hair, and I captured it all with my @canonusa EOS R5 Mark II and RF24mm F1.4 L VCM Lens. I can’t say enough about this magical duo! I can switch back and forth between capturing videos and photos so easily during photoshoots now, which is a game changer for recording our behind the scenes moments. #ad #AD our family recreated this epic scene from Star Wars to celebrate Father’s Day! ✨ While every photoshoot we do holds memories for our kids, I think it’s safe to say this photo is one of Oliver’s forever favorites 🥹. We wanted to recreate the epic father-son dueling scene from Star Wars using practical effects. We used large foam boards, paint, black paper, 750 fiber optic lights, fog, and a bit of imagination to bring this moment to life. Then they got into their homemade costumes and I used lighting, fog, and fun to capture the photo! This was definitely a photoshoot that the dark and light side of the force will never forget.
