📢 Future Sailors of Rochester: Locked In and Learning! ⚓📚 This month, our Rochester Future Sailors focused on two crucial areas of boot camp prep: the RTC Chain of Command and the Phonetic Alphabet. 💪 All our Future Sailors are part of a group messaging app where we share important information, study materials, and encouragement throughout their journey. 📲📖 The Phonetic Alphabet is a standardized set of code words used to clearly communicate letters over radio and telephone, especially in high-stress or noisy environments. For example, instead of saying “B” which can sound like “D” or “E,” we say “Bravo.” 🧠🎙️ It’s not just a military thing—it’s a mission-critical skill for anyone in uniform. Clear communication can mean the difference between success and failure in high-stakes situations. What they didn’t know was how they’d be tested. When I asked the first question, you could see some of them immediately jump into spelling the word correctly… but they skipped a key step: starting their response properly. ⚠️ At RTC, if you’re asked a question and you don’t start your response the right way—even if the rest is spot on—it’s still wrong. 🧍♂️✅➡️🧍♂️❌ Training them now on the right way to answer builds discipline and sets the tone for success. 🎯 Want to train with a team that takes your success seriously? 🕒 Teaching Future Sailors to Master Military Time ⏱️ One of the first lessons we cover with our Future Sailors is how to read military time—because in the Navy, time is more than just numbers. It’s about precision, accountability, and readiness. Military time uses a 24-hour clock to avoid confusion. So instead of 3:00 PM, we say 1500. No a.m. or p.m.—just clarity. Here’s a fun Navy fact: we don’t say “hours” like the Army does. In the Army, 1400 might be read as “fourteen hundred hours.” In the Navy, we keep it sharp—just “fourteen hundred.” Simple. Efficient. Shipshape. And one more pro tip: “O” isn’t a number. It’s zero-five hundred (0500), not oh-five hundred. Details matter. Get it right early. ✅ Future Sailors learning this now are already developing the attention to detail that will serve them well at Boot Camp and beyond. 🫡 Want to get ahead and start training the right way? DM me to set up an appointment. 📸 ROCHESTER FUTURE SAILORS DEP MEETING RECAP 🇺🇸 Yesterday’s DEP (Delayed Entry Program) meeting in Rochester was one for the books—and a perfect example of what mentorship, teamwork, and growth look like in action. We kicked off with some marching and maneuvering drills to build discipline and attention to detail. From there, it was knock-out time—literally—as our Future Sailors faced off in a spirited round of knockout drill to test reflexes and focus. Then came the highlight of the physical session: bubble pad pugil sticks. Friendly competition brought out the energy and fire we love to see in our next generation of warriors! We followed it up with a Rank & Recognition Puzzle Relay—because knowing the difference between a Petty Officer and a Lieutenant isn’t just helpful, it’s essential. And to round out the physical training, the Start Guide Quiz challenged our Future Sailors’ knowledge and mental toughness. After cooling down, we moved into the pavilion for mentorship briefs from Chief’s Kieffer and Hardy—two leaders who know what it takes to succeed and made sure our Future Sailors left with more than just sweat and soreness—they left with wisdom. Finally, we wrapped up the day with burgers and hot dogs as we celebrated our graduating high school seniors and those who will soon ship off to bootcamp to begin their Navy journey. Every part of this DEP meeting served a purpose: to sharpen minds, strengthen bodies, reinforce teamwork, and fuel motivation. These Future Sailors are not just preparing for bootcamp—they’re preparing for life. 💪 If you’re ready to find out what you’re capable of, DM me to set up an appointment.
