Toyota (and Honda) prioritized hybrids for a reason. With existing battery technology and production constraints, it made sense to prioritize hybrids despite incentives that pushed for electric vehicles. With the amount of batteries required to build one EV, you can built up to 100 hybrid vehicles. Replacing 100 traditional gas cars with 100 hybrids is far more effective than replacing 1 out of 99 ICE cars with a zero emissions EV. The strategy was mocked at first, but it paid off in the long run as manufacturers have reversed course and followed Toyota and Honda’s hybrid strategy even despite tax credits. What’s your least favorite part of the new Toyota Land Cruiser? Although I love that Toyota brought it back at a much more affordable price, it does come with quite a few sacrifices. As it stands, it struggles to differentiate itself from other off-road oriented Toyotas such as the 4Runner which has the same powertrain option. I believe the Land Cruiser with a V6 Twin Turbo powertrain as an option would be a huge saving grace for the model.
