Daily I get comments from (mostly women) saying things like; “Those pants make you look bigger than you are” “You wouldn’t look so big if you covered your belly” “Those pants aren’t flattering on fat people” And I’m here to say, that believe it or not, I no longer pick clothes based on if they make me look smaller or not. I say “no longer” because there was a time where I fell for the same beliefs. There was a time that I hid my belly because I was ashamed. There was a time that a wide leg pant made me nauseous because “why would I want to look bigger”. I remember being stuck in that toxic mindset and I’m so glad I’ve moved past it. I deserve to wear the clothes that make me feel good, some days thats a crop top, some days thats wide leg jeans and other days thats a big baggy sweatsuit. Clothes are supposed to make you feel good, they aren’t meant to disguise the parts of your body the world has conditioned you to believe are bad. Stop focusing on how to make yourself smaller, and start focusing on how you can take up the space you already deserve and give others the permission to do the same! I love you, you got this!
